Signing on with Viget Labs

On Monday (11/6), I begin a new adventure. After about just a year and a half out on my own, I’ll be joining Viget Labs as one of their newest team members. My official title will be Internet Strategy Specialist.

Looking back to Fall ‘03, my initial job out of graduate school actually really added to my current skillset - but the work wasn’t something I was particularly excited about. In many ways, it was starting up this blog and venturing out of the ordinary that helped refine what I was most passionate about - helping clients leverage the web effectively.

Reflecting on what I accomplished with TECHNOSIGHT, I feel very blessed. I’ve been able to work with some very smart people and some great clients. I’ve been able to gain credibility with peers, build a larger (and more quality) network of contacts, and even landed some cool writing opportunities. Writing is something I still plan to do.

My role at Viget will be quite similar to what I’ve focused my own efforts on: analyzing web presence, introducing new web tools, implementing web analytics, and evaluating start-ups and sales opportunities amongst other things.

In case you are not familiar with Viget Labs, they are the company that built Squidoo. Their clientele is pretty diverse overall, ranging from Shania Twain to lesser known non-profits. But one of the things that did grab my interest was their desire to more aggressively pursue work with online businesses and Web 2.0 start-ups. That makes my fit make even more sense.

Other than working across the street (literally) instead of at my home office, things won’t really change here. I’m going to encourage folks to still contact me about their start-ups, project work, and consulting opportunities via my contact form.

I hope you’ll continue to stay tuned. Definitely go learn more about Viget Labs.
