MySpace Adds “Slides” and Increases Photo Storage

MySpace now has the option for users to add “slides” to their profiles. This feature has been serviced by companies like Slide and RockYou to this point. Coinciding with this new feature, the 12-photo limit restriction has been lifted. MySpace could easily get into the photosharing business if they felt like it.

This move is not the first time MySpace has usurped a popular community feature. They did the same with YouTube by creating MySpace Video. Interestingly enough, I’ve seen MySpace Video become quite popular within MySpace - for every YouTube video, I typically see a MySpace one too.

Considering how MySpace recently began treating widgets, feeding the MySpace beast may become a strategy of the past.

Expect MySpace to become even more aggressive, predatory and vertically integrated, as that has been Fox’s historical business model under Murdoch no matter what the venture.
